Tinubu Tells NDDC to Focus on Community Impact and Regional Development
President Bola Tinubu has called on the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to focus on delivering projects that improve lives across the Niger Delta. Speaking through Finance Minister Wale Edun at an event in Abuja, Tinubu said the region remains critical to Nigeria’s energy future and economic stability.
The remarks were made during the 50th birthday of NDDC Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, who also launched two books on strategies for regional development. Tinubu stressed the need for continued infrastructure investment, youth engagement, and accountability.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio added that the NDDC has recently completed long-stalled projects, including an electricity initiative in Ondo State, which had been left unfinished for over a decade. He noted that recent leadership has maintained stability within the commission.
On his part, Ogbuku credited his approach at the NDDC to an early meeting with the President, during which Tinubu had outlined expectations. He said the Commission would continue to meet those expectations through ongoing reforms and project execution.
