Rotary Club of Ubeji Partners with Roli Mabo Foundation to Provide Clean Water to Orere Community
The Rotary Club of Ubeji has partnered with the Roli Mabo Foundation to provide clean water to the Orere community in Delta State, marking a significant milestone in improving living conditions.
The project was officially launched on Friday, 29th November, with Hon. Samuel Oligida, the Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, represented by Toju Ekengbuda. Oligida praised the collaboration as a vital example of “public-private partnership” aimed at enhancing public health and boosting the local economy. He also highlighted that the initiative aligns with the M.O.R.E. agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Rotary Club of Ubeji’s Project Chairperson, Rtn. Tuoyo Ovie-Jack, explained the club had conducted a needs assessment in the community, which revealed a critical lack of clean water. She noted that the Rotary Club partnered with the Roli Mabo Foundation due to shared goals of improving community wellbeing. Ovie-Jack urged the community to take ownership of the project to ensure its sustainability, which, she said, would encourage further efforts in the future.

Ade Mabo, Director of the Roli Mabo Foundation, said the Orere water project was the foundation’s first initiative in Warri South-West Local Government Area. He revealed that the need for clean water in Orere was brought to his attention by Emiko Odin-Etuwewe, a former community leader. Mabo thanked the government, the Rotary Club, and the community for their collaboration and support. He also shared plans to extend clean water access to 14 additional communities in 2025.
Community members expressed their gratitude for the project, which promises to improve their access to clean water.
Orere, which has long struggled with ocean surges and logistical challenges, now faces renewed hope that this project will contribute to addressing the ongoing hardships of the community.
