Adeboye Decries Pastor’s Arrest Over “Ladies and Gentlemen” Address
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has expressed concern over the arrest of one of the church’s pastors abroad, who was detained for addressing a gathering as “ladies and gentlemen.”
Speaking during the church’s monthly thanksgiving service at RCCG’s Throne of Grace in Lagos on Sunday, Adeboye shared the troubling incident, explaining that the pastor was reported for discrimination after using the term. According to Adeboye, some attendees took issue with the phrase, arguing that it did not include all the genders recognized by their culture.

“The end is nearer than you think. Things are getting worse, and this is a wake-up call,” Adeboye said during his sermon, which was broadcast to all RCCG parishes. “One of my pastors abroad was arrested simply for addressing a gathering as ‘ladies and gentlemen.’ Some people reported him for discrimination, asking, ‘What about those who are neither ladies nor gentlemen?’”
In his sermon titled “My Father’s House,” Adeboye warned that society’s moral decline was accelerating. He recounted another disturbing incident involving a woman who referred to her dog as her “husband.” When asked about her spouse, the woman allegedly replied, “I took him to the vet before coming. He doesn’t talk,” describing her “husband” as a dog.
