Delta APC Crisis: Osanebi Endorses Obigbor as Acting Chairman

Amid ongoing internal disputes over leadership within the Delta State All Progressives Congress (APC), Rt. Hon. Friday Osanebi, former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and the party’s Deputy Governorship Candidate in the 2023 elections, has voiced his support for Barr. Francis Obigbor as the Acting Chairman of the Delta State Chapter of the APC.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Osanebi condemned the alleged appointment of Chief Paulinus Akpeki, the Senatorial Chairman for Delta Central, as the acting chairman of the party. He referred to the move as a “clear violation of the APC constitution” and a “reprehensible assault on our party’s democratic foundations.”

The former deputy speaker stressed his firm commitment to upholding the party’s constitution and asserted that Barr. Obigbor, who currently serves as Deputy Chairman, is the rightful leader to take charge of the party in Delta State. “His leadership and dedication to our party are commendable, and I have no doubt he will excel in this new role,” Osanebi stated, expressing confidence in Obigbor’s ability to effectively lead the APC in the state.

He also called on all APC members, particularly those from the Ndokwa Nation, to unite and support Barr. Obigbor in his new role. He stressed that the party’s success in the 2027 elections hinges on collaboration and adherence to the party’s constitutional principles.

Osanebi’s endorsement comes as debates within the party continue, with members working through crucial leadership decisions aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future elections. Barr. Obigbor is seen as a unifying figure, dedicated to maintaining party unity and upholding constitutional integrity in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
