Princess Emiko Joins NCC Board, Set to Champion Digital Inclusion
Princess Oforitsenere Emiko has been appointed to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) Board by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, marking a significant step in ensuring diverse leadership in Nigeria’s digital future. Known for her advocacy in promoting digital inclusion, especially for underserved communities, her appointment is expected to help bridge the digital divide, particularly in rural areas where access to technology is limited.
The newly formed NCC board is chaired by Idris Olorunnimbe, with Dr. Aminu Waida continuing as the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO. Alongside Emiko, the board includes prominent members like Rimini Makama and Abraham Oshidami, all of whom bring expertise in communications, governance, and technology.
At the same time, the President has also approved appointments for the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), which aims to expand ICT services to rural and underserved regions. The synergy between the NCC and USPF will play a key role in Nigeria’s push toward digital inclusivity and equitable access for all citizens.
Emiko’s appointment to these boards adds a vital voice to Nigeria’s digital policy-making, reflecting a commitment to inclusive development and equitable access to digital opportunities across the country.
