Police Nab Man Over Lover’s Murder in Rivers State

Police in Rivers State have arrested 23-year-old Kingsley Chinamezu for the killing of his lover, 44-year-old Confidence Konebari Sunny, in Umuebule community, Etche Local Government Area.

Chinamezu, also known as Power Sharp, allegedly attacked the woman with a machete on July 20, 2025, before fleeing to Egbeta village in Edo State. While in hiding, he was said to have threatened the victim’s family, insisting he could cause them more harm without consequence.

The Anti-Kidnapping Unit traced and captured him on August 15 following a formal complaint by the family. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime, and police are gathering evidence to determine his involvement in other offences.

Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, praised the swift efforts of his men and warned criminals that the command will not relent in its pursuit of justice.
