Nigeria to Enforce Reciprocal Visa Rules on US Citizens

The United States has rolled out stricter visa application rules for Nigerians, requiring applicants to submit records of their social media activity for the past five years. Any failure to comply may result in visa rejection or a permanent ban from entering the country.

Nigeria has responded by announcing that American citizens will face the same conditions when applying for visas. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that visa policies are reciprocal and Nigeria will match any measure imposed by Washington.

Spokesman Kimiebi Ebienfa confirmed that the government will hold consultations with the Ministry of Interior and the National Intelligence Agency to decide on implementation.

The move comes after recent US restrictions that cut most Nigerian non-immigrant visas to single-entry permits valid for three months.
