Military Insider May Have Aided Benue Massacre – Defence Chief

Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has raised concerns that insider sabotage within the military may have helped facilitate the recent massacre in Benue State, where over 200 people were reportedly killed.

Speaking during a visit to the affected areas, General Musa said some soldiers might have leaked sensitive information to armed bandits, enabling targeted attacks and widespread arson. He stressed the urgent need to review military strategies and strengthen collaboration with local authorities to restore trust and improve security.

The comments come ahead of a planned condolence visit by President Bola Tinubu to Benue State tomorrow. The president is expected to meet with traditional rulers, political leaders, religious figures, community representatives, and youth groups to discuss lasting solutions to the violence.
