Breaking: President Tinubu to Visit Benue State Over Rising Insecurity

President Bola Tinubu has postponed his planned visit to Kaduna to focus on the ongoing conflict in Benue State. He will travel to Benue on Wednesday, 18 June 2025, to assess the persistent violence that has left many dead and caused widespread destruction.

Benue has been plagued by recurring clashes between communities, resulting in loss of lives and damage to farmlands and property. The President’s visit aims to engage with traditional rulers, political, religious and community leaders, as well as youth groups, to find lasting solutions to the crisis.

Ahead of the visit, key government officials including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, the National Security Adviser, and heads of intelligence agencies have been dispatched to Benue to prepare for the President’s arrival.

A town hall meeting is planned during the visit to foster dialogue and cooperation among all stakeholders.
