Labour Party Ward Chairman Kidnapped in Edo State
A ward chairman of Labour Party has been abducted in Edo State, according to family sources.
Okasime Olowojoba, who serves as the party’s Ward 1 chairman in Akoko-Edo and works as a realtor, was reportedly kidnapped on Saturday while travelling on the Auchi-Benin-Ibillo Road.
He was on his way to Igarra from Auchi after picking up his children, who were due to resume school. The incident is said to have occurred near Sasaro, an area previously linked to multiple abductions.

Eyewitnesses say the kidnappers initially seized all occupants of the vehicle, including Olowojoba’s children and a house help. However, the assailants later released the children and the domestic worker, taking only Olowojoba into the bush.
A family member, who spoke on condition of anonymity, disclosed the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of 50 million naira .
“There was no network that Saturday, it was restored about 12 noon on Sunday” the relative said.
It is also believed that additional abductions may have occurred in the same area on Sunday.
The Edo State Police Command has yet to confirm the incident.
