Federal Government Declares May 1 Public Holiday

The Federal Government has declared Thursday, 1 May 2025, a public holiday to mark Workers’ Day.

Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo made the announcement in a statement released Tuesday night, urging workers to embrace innovation and productivity.

He praised Nigerian workers for their dedication, saying their efforts underpin national growth and international respect.

“There is dignity in labour,” the minister said, calling on workers to help drive better governance and economic progress.

Tunji-Ojo also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to security and urged citizens to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

He wished workers a peaceful celebration.
