Warri-Itakpe Train Service to Resume After Suspension
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced the resumption of the Warri-Itakpe train service on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, following a three-week suspension caused by technical faults, including several engine failures.
NRC spokesperson Callistus Unyimadu confirmed the restart in a statement on Monday, noting that all necessary repairs have been completed.
The NRC’s Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, apologized for the disruption and thanked passengers for their patience.

According to the NRC, starting Thursday, May 1, the train will operate six days a week, Monday to Wednesday and Friday to Sunday while Thursdays will be reserved for routine maintenance.
“Passengers should note that there will be no service on Thursdays to allow for routine safety checks,” Unyimadu said.
The NRC also stated that refunds were issued to passengers who requested them, while unused tickets remain valid and can be used on any future travel date through the online booking platform.
