JAMB Warns of Scam Targeting UTME Candidates
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disowned a fraudulent website soliciting payments from candidates who missed the ongoing 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
In a statement issued Thursday, May 1 in Abuja, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr Fabian Benjamin, described the site linked to an account named “Copyrightwriter Personal J Rescheduling Flw” at Sterling Bank as a scam.
He said fraudsters are demanding 15,700 naira from candidates under the false promise of rescheduling missed exams.

“This is a blatant scam,” Benjamin said. “JAMB does not reschedule exams for candidates who miss their slots for reasons not caused by the Board.”
He stressed that no fees are charged beyond the initial registration and urged candidates to remain vigilant. JAMB has reported the matter to security agencies and urged Sterling Bank to act against the fraudulent account.
However, Benjamin noted that a separate investigation is ongoing for candidates whose biometric verification failed. Those cleared will be rescheduled to retake the exam at no cost.
Candidates are advised to report any suspicious activity immediately.
