PDP to Sue Delta Governor, Others Over Defection to APC
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plans to initiate legal proceedings against Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and several key political figures in the state following their recent defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This decision was disclosed in a communique issued after a six-hour closed-door meeting held by the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the party has directed its National Legal Adviser to begin the legal process of reclaiming what it termed as the PDP’s stolen mandate in Delta State.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum, stated that the party could not stand by while its electoral victories are usurped by political opponents.
“Our party’s fortune cannot be left in the hands of adversaries,” Damagum said. “We must defend the will of the people and restore the PDP’s rightful position in Delta.”
As part of the party’s effort to stabilise its internal structure in the state, the PDP has appointed South-South Zonal Chairman, Emma Ogidi, to oversee and lead restructuring efforts in Delta State.
