Delta Youths Protest Abandoned Ukala-Ezi-Ebu Road

Youths from Ukala, Ezi, Ebu, and nearby communities in Oshimili North and Aniocha North LGAs of Delta State marched in Asaba on Tuesday to demand the completion of the abandoned Ukala-Ezi-Ebu road. They were stopped by security personnel at the Inter-Bua roundabout before reaching Government House.

The protesters, holding placards calling for urgent action, said the road is vital for farmers, traders, students, and patients, yet has been left in a dangerous condition for years. They complained that it has slowed movement of goods, caused financial losses, and become a target zone for criminals.

Chief of Staff to the Delta State Governor, Johnson Erijo, addressed the protesters and assured them the state was aware of the situation. He called for continued peaceful engagement, saying the government is committed to infrastructure growth under its MORE Agenda.

Community leaders urged the government to mobilise contractors immediately, warning that further delays would worsen the suffering of residents.
