Ibom Air Denies Leaked Passenger Video
Ibom Air has denied leaking a viral video of a passenger in a state of indecent exposure during a recent onboard incident. The airline said the recording, although made on one of its flights, was not shared by its staff.
Group Manager for Marketing and Communications, Aniekan Essienette, clarified that several individuals present at the scene were not employees, meaning the footage could have been taken and shared by anyone. She stressed that the airline does not condone such exposure and would not have circulated the video.
The statement followed Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo’s directive to sanction any airline worker linked to the footage. Keyamo noted that while recordings for evidence in court are acceptable, releasing them to the public in such form is unacceptable.
Ibom Air explained that the passenger had resisted instructions to disembark and was restrained until security arrived. The airline called for stronger measures to curb disruptive behaviour on flights, emphasising that humiliating passengers is never part of its operations.
