Edo Governor Approves 500-Bed Hostel for AAU Medical School

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has pledged to construct a 500-bed hostel for the medical school at Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, with work set to begin in the coming weeks.

The announcement came during his campaign visit to Iruekpen and Ekpoma wards in Esan West LGA ahead of the August 16 Edo Central Senatorial by-election. Okpebholo reminded residents that one of his earliest actions in office was to raise the university’s subvention to ₦500 million and set up its governing council.

The hostel is expected to ease housing shortages for medical students and improve their learning environment. The governor reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his promises and encouraged party members to intensify mobilisation ahead of future elections.

The campaign tour drew senior APC officials, key local leaders, and top government aides.
