Odeli’s Wife Calls for Justice, Says Husband Was Wrongfully Arrested

Almost a week after community leader David Odeli was taken from his home in the New Layout area of Egbokodo Itsekiri, his wife, Esanye Odeli is demanding his immediate release.

According to Mrs. Odeli, her husband was wrongfully arrested by the police for a crime he had no involvement in. She claims that David was neither at the scene of the incident nor connected to it in any way, yet he was detained simply because of his position as the chairman of his community.

“This arrest is an injustice,” Esanye Odeli said in a Facebook post.

She expressed deep concern over the lack of fairness in the situation, noting that her husband, a man who had worked tirelessly for his community, was now locked away for no reason.

Mrs. Odeli further criticized the country’s security system, claiming that the authorities had failed to identify the real culprit and had wrongfully accused her husband due to his leadership status. “Our security system is broken. Instead of finding the real person responsible, they have wrongly accused David just because of his leadership role. But being a leader does not make someone guilty, she emphasized.
