Warri Wolves Suspend Coach Aluma After Poor NPFL Start

Warri Wolves have suspended head coach Napoleon Aluma following a string of disappointing results in the early stages of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign. The announcement, made by the Delta State Sports Commission, comes on the heels of the club’s latest defeat to Shooting Stars in Ozoro, which extended their winless streak.

Aluma, once hailed for masterminding the Wolves’ return to the top flight from the Nigeria National League (NNL), has seen his fortunes reversed in a matter of weeks. Despite beginning the season with two clean sheets, recent lapses in form triggered concerns within the club’s management, culminating in his immediate suspension.

Assistant coach Johnny Austin has been tapped to step in as interim manager. According to an official statement by the Commission’s spokesperson, Okonma Franka, Aluma has been instructed to hand over all operational responsibilities. The club emphasized that the move was necessary to halt further decline and reposition the team competitively.
