Ugborodo Women Seek Urgent Security Intervention

A women’s advocacy group, the Voice of Warri Kingdom Women Initiative (VWWI), has raised alarm over persistent insecurity in Ugborodo communities of Warri South West Local Government Area, Delta State.

Speaking on behalf of the group, its president, Mrs. Vivian Mene, said the area has remained unsettled for weeks following the killing of a young man, Emiko Onuwaje, during a violent incident in Ogidigben.

She alleged that the situation escalated after suspected attackers allegedly stormed Ogidigben, setting ablaze a house belonging to a Warri Kingdom chief and destroying property within the compound.

The group appealed to the Chief of Army Staff, the Inspector-General of Police, and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to deploy adequate security personnel to affected communities, stressing that residents have
