Udu Council Imposes Dusk-to-Dawn Curfew in Oghior After Fresh Unrest
A dusk-to-dawn curfew has been placed on Oghior Community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State following renewed violence that led to the destruction of properties and the burning of several houses. The enforcement order, issued by Udu Council Chairman Olorogun Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode, takes effect immediately from 6:00pm to 6:00am.
The directive, announced through his Chief Press Secretary, Comrade Henry Ubus, mandates security agencies to arrest the situation swiftly. Oyibode instructed operatives to confront anyone found with illegal arms or attempting to provoke further disturbances, stressing that firm action is necessary to halt the crisis.
He reaffirmed the council’s commitment to protecting lives and property, noting that his administration will not allow criminal elements to destabilize Oghior or any other part of Udu. Residents were urged to comply with the curfew and cooperate fully with security personnel already stationed in the community.
Oyibode assured that the council, working closely with security formations, will maintain close surveillance of the area until peace and normalcy are fully restored.
