AAU Student Dies After Sign-Out Convoy Hits Truck

A final-year student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, lost his life in a road accident that occurred during a celebration convoy organised after the completion of final examinations. The incident happened on Monday at Ujoelen, near a primary school, shortly after the students left campus.

According to accounts shared by Inside Edo, the crash occurred when one of the vehicles in the convoy attempted to overtake another, resulting in loss of control and a violent collision with a stationary truck. Residents who witnessed the incident rushed to assist but were unable to save the victim.

Additional reports from the News Agency of Nigeria indicated that the group of students had been driving recklessly moments before the fatal crash. Witnesses told NAN that the deceased was part of a convoy of newly graduated students who took to the highway for a celebratory parade immediately after signing out.

Edo State FRSC Sector Commander, Cyril Mathew, later confirmed the accident, noting that one person died and five others sustained injuries.
