Troops Arrest Native Doctor, Others, Recover Arms in Delta Raid
Troops of the 63 Brigade under Operation Delta Safe have arrested 13 suspects, including a native doctor, during a security operation in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State. The arrests followed intelligence reports linking the suspects to cult-related criminal activities in the area.
Army authorities said the operation was carried out around Ibusa, where troops intercepted members of a suspected cult group. During the raid, two pump-action rifles were recovered from the suspects, while three additional rifles were found in the possession of individuals claiming to be local vigilantes.
Further operations led to the discovery of eight more pump-action rifles at Umuisiagba, bringing the total number of weapons recovered to 13. All suspects and items recovered have been handed over to the appropriate agency for investigation.
The Brigade Commander, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, praised the troops for their alertness and urged sustained action against criminal networks. He assured residents that the Army remains committed to protecting lives and property across Delta State.
