Tinubu’s Aide Resigns Citing ‘Unholy Alliance’ with Wike

Aliyu Audu, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Bola Tinubu has resigned, citing concerns over the president’s political alliance with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Audu described the relationship as an “unholy alliance” in a statement released after his resignation. He also raised alarm over the increasing number of defections to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), warning that it could undermine democratic values.

He stressed that his resignation was not intended as an act of rebellion, but rather a matter of conscience and a stand for democratic integrity.

Audu is the third appointee to leave the Tinubu administration since it began. In 2024, Ajuri Ngelale resigned as presidential spokesman and climate envoy, citing family health issues. In April 2025, Baba Ahmed stepped down as Special Adviser on Political Matters.
