Tinubu Writes Senate, Seeks N4.5trn Budget Increase
President Bola Tinubu has requested an increase in the 2025 budget, raising it from N49.7 trillion to N54.2 trillion.

The request, read out by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Wednesday, February 5, plenary, cites additional revenues, including N1.4 trillion from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), N1.2 trillion from the Nigeria Customs Service, and N1.8 trillion from other government agencies.
Akpabio referred the proposal to the Senate Committee on Finance and Appropriations for prompt review, with plans to finalise the budget before the end of February.
