Suspected Kidnappers Murder Poultry Farmer in Delta

Suspected herdsmen kidnappers have killed a 48-year-old poultry farmer, Ukpevo Oghenekaro, near his farm along Iyede Road, close to the Ughelli Township Stadium in Delta State. The attack occurred on Tuesday evening while the farmer was attending to his birds ahead of the Christmas season.

Eyewitnesses said Oghenekaro arrived at the farm with his son, who entered the premises after opening the gate. Shortly afterward, the boy heard his father shouting and rushed out to find three armed men trying to drag him into the bush.

The son raised an alarm and attempted to intervene but was shot by one of the attackers. The gunmen later succeeded in taking Oghenekaro away after firing several shots, while the injured boy pretended to be dead before escaping to seek help.

On Wednesday morning, police officers from the Ufuoma Division, accompanied by family members, found Oghenekaro’s body about one kilometre from the farm. The injured son was taken to hospital and is receiving treatment.
