Supporters and well-wishers from across local communities in Warri held a peaceful solidarity walk to welcome home, a British soldier of Itsekiri descent, known simply as Major Micah Polo, who recently returned to Warri after being granted bail.

Polo, while preparing to return to the UK at the end of his work leave in Nigeria was reportedly detained at the Lagos International Airport by security operatives. He was later accused of alleged gun running and plotting to incite unrest in Warri, allegations that drew public concern and condemnation among his supporters. His legal team maintains his innocence and states that he is determined to clear his name in court.

On Wednesday, July 16, supporters marched through the streets of Warri carrying banners with inscriptions such as “Betrayed but Unbroken, Welcome Home, Don Polo!”, “Major Micah Polo, A Leader Who Belongs to All”, and “The People’s Major, Our Pride, Our Honour.”

Addressing the supporters, a close aide of Polo Ademola Delight expressed deep gratitude to the people for standing by him during his ordeal.

“Major Micah appreciates every one of you for your prayers and your peaceful show of love. we urge you all to stay hopeful, calm and continue to trust the justice system,” the aide said.

While Polo has yet to speak publicly since his release, sources close to his camp say he remains focused on clearing his name through legal means and has vowed to continue advocating for peace and unity within his community.
