Stakeholder Calls for Govt Action Over Warri Land Dispute

An Itsekiri American based analyst, Kingsley Okorodudu also known as KC Dallas has issued a strong warning over escalating tensions in Warri, Delta State, challenging claims that Miller Waterside is an Ijaw community and calling on authorities to intervene.

In a statement shared online on Tuesday, May 20, Okorodudu urged Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and federal leaders to investigate the alleged reclassification of land historically tied to Itsekiri communities.

“Miller Waterside is not a community, never has been,” he said. “It belongs to Ugbuwangue, Ugbori, and Ekurede. Any attempt to rewrite that history is an insult.”

He warned that continued “disparaging and land grabbing” would not be tolerated by the Itsekiri people.

“We want peace, but not at the cost of our heritage. If we are pushed to the wall, we will defend ourselves.”

He also criticized political leaders for endorsing former Niger Delta militant Government Ekpemupolo popularly known as Tompolo, for holding federal pipeline surveillance contracts, describing him as a “man with a questionable character.”

“Billions have been paid to one man. That money could build bridges and security infrastructure. How did we get here?”

The Delta State Government has yet to respond publicly to the statement. Representatives from the Ijaw and Urhobo communities have also not issued comment at the time of reporting.
