He stated that the role had been both an honour and a privilege, noting that his time at NNPC Ltd allowed him to contribute meaningfully to the company, reflecting on a period that saw major changes within the organisation, including its transition to a fully commercial entity following the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act.

Soneye, who took up the role in October 2023, led the company’s communications team during a critical period of transformation. He has been credited with improving the public image of NNPC Ltd and strengthening media engagement. Soneye acknowledged the support he received from colleagues and media professionals throughout his tenure and pledged to remain a strong supporter of the organisation even after his departure.
