Police Say Court Order on Tinted Glass Yet to Be Served

The Nigeria Police Force has said it has not been officially served with a Federal High Court order stopping enforcement of the tinted-glass permit policy. The order had directed the Inspector-General of Police and the Force to maintain the status quo pending further hearings.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said on Saturday that reports circulating online omitted crucial details of the ruling. He pointed out that while one part of the injunction was highlighted, another portion was ignored, leaving Nigerians with an incomplete picture.

The order was granted in Suit No. FHC/WR/CS/103/2025 filed by John Aikpokpo-Martins, with the next hearing scheduled for October 16.

The Police had reintroduced the tinted-glass permit system in 2023 after suspending it in 2022 under the Police Specialised Services Automation Project. The case is expected to determine whether enforcement will continue or be permanently halted.
