PDP Convention: Court Shuts Out Press, Adjourns Hearing
The Oyo State High Court in Ibadan on Monday adjourned the hearing of a case seeking to halt the Peoples Democratic Party’s planned National Convention. Justice Ladiran Akintola shifted the matter to Wednesday, November 12, 2025, after directing parties to file and exchange all necessary processes.
The suit, filed by Folahan Malomo Adelabi, challenges actions taken by the PDP leadership, including Acting National Chairman Umar Iliya Damagum, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and the Independent National Electoral Commission. The claimant seeks orders preventing any step that could affect the convention’s conduct.
Security was heightened around the court premises as journalists were barred from the courtroom. Operatives stationed at strategic points restricted media access, fueling speculation about rising tension surrounding the case.
The court had earlier ordered the PDP to strictly follow its issued timetable and guidelines for the planned convention in Ibadan.
