PANDEF Warns Biafra Agitators: “Niger Delta Is Not Part of Biafra”

The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) has issued a stern warning any attempt to include communities from the Niger Delta in the Biafra Republic, warning that the region will resist such effort.

In a statement released on Wednesday, PANDEF called on proponents of the Biafra cause to stop associating the South-South region with their secessionist agenda.

“We, the apex socio-political body of the Niger Delta, are not party to this agitation,” said Hon. Engr. Donben Donyegha, PANDEF’s National Youth Leader, who signed the statement. “The continued inclusion of PANDEF areas or communities in the so-called Biafra Republic is provocative and an insult to our leaders.”

The forum stressed that any further attempts to include the Niger Delta in the Biafra movement would meet strong opposition from the region’s youth. “Niger Delta is not Biafra,” Donyegha warned.

PANDEF reiterated its belief in a united Nigeria, advocating for greater autonomy for states to control their natural resources while contributing to national security, foreign policy, and territorial integrity.

The group also called for a return to the principles of federalism outlined in the 1964 Constitution, particularly regarding resource control, as opposed to the centralization seen in the 1999 Constitution. The group vowed to continue engaging with the federal and state governments to achieve the vision of Nigeria’s founding fathers.
