Ojobo Community in Burutu LGA Inaugurates New Leadership
The Ojobo Federated Community, home to several multinational oil companies in Burutu Local Government Area, has inaugurated a new leadership team to oversee community affairs for the next two years.
The inauguration ceremony, held over the weekend at the Ojobo community square, saw the oldest man in the community, Pa Feyenaghan Ayeigha, administer the oath of office to Chief Sunday Cupson, the newly elected Amanana-owei, or traditional ruler.
Pa Ayeigha announced an extension of the community leadership tenure from one year to two years to enhance administrative efficiency. This change was also affirmed by Chief Cupson during the event.
Chief Cupson subsequently administered the oath to Prince Doubra Baro, the new community chairman, along with 19 executive members who will serve alongside him.
In his inaugural speech, Prince Baro expressed gratitude to the people of Ojobo for their trust and pledged to promote unity, peace, and progress during his tenure.
“Ojobo is a blessed community,” he said. “My priorities are clear – I will pursue anything that benefits the collective advancement of our people and reject anything that causes retrogression. I am committed to bringing back the spirit of ‘Ebi-Ojobo’ into the town.”
Prince Baro also pledged to maintain peaceful relations and cooperation with multinational oil companies operating in the area, particularly Renaissance Africa Energy Limited.
Addressing infrastructure concerns, the new leadership called on Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to revisit the critical Torugbene-Ojobo axis of the Tuomo-Ogbobagbene-Tamigbe-Ojobo road project.
