Ogboru Moves to ADC After APC Exit
Delta State political heavyweight, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, has made another surprising turn in his political journey by joining the African Democratic Congress (ADC), just months after aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
His defection, confirmed on Friday, July 18, 2025, by the Delta State Chairman of ADC, Engr. Austine Okolie, has sparked immediate speculation and internal tension within the party. According to Okolie, Ogboru has expressed interest and is expected to formally declare at the ADC state secretariat in Asaba.
Party stakeholders say the timing and motive behind Ogboru’s latest switch suggest a calculated attempt to influence the ADC’s internal structure ahead of future elections.
“This isn’t about a fresh start or shared values,” a party source noted. “It’s a power play aimed at gaining control and positioning for relevance in the evolving political climate.”
There are also claims that Ogboru’s defection was initially premised on the assumption that former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, was preparing to join the ADC an assumption that has reportedly proven inaccurate.
Ogboru’s political career has been marked by multiple party affiliations and high-stakes contests, making his latest move both familiar and contentious within Delta’s political circles.
