Oborevwori Unveils ₦1.664trn Budget, Targets Faster Growth in 2026

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has laid before the State House of Assembly a proposed ₦1.664 trillion budget for the 2026 financial year, signalling the administration’s plan to advance its development agenda. The presentation took place at the Assembly Complex in Asaba during a formal sitting.

Tagged the “Budget of Accelerating the MORE Agenda,” the proposal outlines measures to strengthen infrastructure, deepen social services and reinforce public institutions. The Governor noted that steady revenue growth and disciplined fiscal practices have positioned the state to pursue major projects across roads, healthcare, education, markets and community initiatives.

He stated that the fiscal plan seeks to drive sustainable economic expansion, enhance security and ensure that government programmes reach communities in all 25 local government areas. According to him, sustaining development momentum remains central to ensuring equitable impact across the state.

With the submission of the estimates, the lawmakers are expected to begin legislative scrutiny ahead of the 2026 fiscal year. Governor Oborevwori reiterated that his administration will continue to operate on principles of transparency, efficient resource use and measurable improvements in social and economic sectors statewide.
