Oborevwori Condoles NUJ Over Death of Punch Journalist

Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has joined journalists across the state in mourning the death of The Punch Newspaper correspondent, Mr. Matthew Ochei.

Ochei, a native of Ukunzu in Aniocha North Local Government Area, died in the early hours of Tuesday, January 6, 2026, after a brief illness. He was aged 43.

In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the governor said the late journalist’s death was a painful loss to the media industry and the state.

He extended condolences to the bereaved family, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Delta State Council, and colleagues of the deceased, assuring them of the government’s solidarity during the period of grief.
