Oborevwori Committed to Paying Contractors Timely -Aniagwu
The Delta State Government has reiterated its commitment to quality and timely delivery in road construction projects across the state. Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu, assured contractors that the government would not withhold payments, stressing the importance of adhering to project specifications and timelines.
During an inspection tour of ongoing road projects in the Sapele metropolis, including the Okirighwre – Benin Road, Okirighwre – Amukpe Road, Shell Road Extension, and Hausa Road Extension, Aniagwu explained that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori prioritizes quality and avoid delays. He commended property owners for their cooperation in facilitating the smooth execution of these projects.
“We are committed to paying contractors promptly,” stated Commissioner Aniagwu. “This partnership between the government and contractors is crucial, and we expect them to reciprocate our commitment by delivering high-quality work on schedule.”
The Commissioner stressed that the government would not compromise on quality standards. He emphasised the importance of adhering to the Bill of Engineering Measurement and Quantity (BEMQ) to ensure the efficient use of public funds.
The inspection tour also revealed areas where improvements were required. Aniagwu instructed contractors to make necessary amendments, such as demolishing certain aspects of drains, to ensure the highest standards of engineering are maintained.
