NBA Arrest Fake Lawyer in Udu, Delta State
A man posing as a lawyer in Delta State has been arrested by vigilant members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Udu Branch, after he was caught forging legal documents. Olubuwe Ossai Silas, who had been using the false identity of Simon Sabuke, was apprehended on Tuesday while affixing a lawyer’s seal to official documents.
According to local reports, Silas was caught in the act of preparing legal papers under the names of legitimate lawyers. His fraudulent activities were quickly identified by members of the NBA Udu Branch, led by Chairman David Omage, who reported the incident to the Ovwian Police Station.
Edmund Odohisi, the NBA Udu Branch Chairman, expressed confidence that the police would conduct a thorough investigation.
Odohisi reiterated the NBA’s zero-tolerance policy for fraudsters within the legal profession, stressing that the full weight of the law would be applied to Silas. This incident also follows previous NBA efforts to combat impersonation, including warnings against the illegal use of NBA car stickers by non-lawyers.
The NBA Udu Branch has made it clear that it will continue to take strong action to protect the integrity of the legal profession and ensure that only qualified individuals are permitted to practice law in the country.
