NSCDC Vows to Hunt Down Killers of 8 Officers In Edo

The Edo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has pledged to bring to justice the gunmen who killed eight of its personnel in Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area. The attack, which took place on Friday night, targeted a security team escorting expatriates from BUA Cement Company, with one Chinese worker abducted.

NSCDC spokesperson Efosa Ogbebor confirmed that investigations are underway, with operatives combing the forests alongside other security agencies. He said the national headquarters had taken over the matter and assured that the perpetrators would not escape justice.

He added that communication had been established with the families of the slain officers, with their welfare and burial arrangements being handled by the Corps. On the kidnapped expatriate, Ogbebor said no contact had been made but stressed that efforts to secure his release were ongoing.

The killing has raised fresh concerns about insecurity around critical industrial facilities in the state, with pressure mounting on security agencies to tighten protection for both personnel and expatriates working in volatile areas.
