Nigerian Police to Honor Late Gen. Lagbaja with Black Armbands

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has directed all police personnel to wear a black band for seven days in remembrance of the late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.

IGP Kayode issued the order in a statement signed by the Force spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

“Following the passing of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has instructed all officers and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force to wear black bands throughout the seven-day mourning period,” the statement said.

This comes as the federal government mourns the passing of the late General, directing that the national flag be flown at half-mast in recognition of his gallantry, dedication, and commitment to combating violent crimes and insurgency in the country.
