Nigeria Among World’s Most Corrupt Country, Latest Transparency Int’l Report Reveals

Nigeria has been ranked as the 36th most corrupt country in the world in the latest annual corruption perceptions index released by Transparency International. Sharing the same position with Uganda, Mexico, Madagascar, Iraq, and Cameroon, Nigeria scored 26 points out of a possible 100.

Denmark, known for its strong anti-corruption measures, topped the list as the least corrupt country with an impressive score of 90 points. Finland followed closely in second place with 88 points, while Singapore secured third with 84 points.

At the other end of the spectrum, South Sudan, Somalia, and Venezuela were named the most corrupt countries, maintaining their positions at the bottom of the ranking. The release of the index today shows ongoing concerns about corruption globally. This year’s ranking sheds light on the urgent need for enhanced transparency, accountability, and anti-corruption reforms in Nigeria, where challenges persist in combating bribery, fraud, and political corruption.
