Keyamo Orders Flight Ban on Fuji Star Kwam 1
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has directed the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to place Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as Kwam 1, on a no-fly list after a safety breach at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. The incident, which involved a confrontation between Kwam 1 and pilots of ValueJet Airlines, has led to the suspension of the pilots’ licenses.
Keyamo condemned the actions of both Kwam 1 and the flight crew, calling the situation a dangerous “loss of sanity” from both sides. He specifically called out Kwam 1 for obstructing the aircraft on the tarmac, stating that his actions regardless of holding a water bottle or alcohol were akin to a hostage situation.
While acknowledging that the pilots’ behavior also violated safety protocols, Keyamo emphasized that no provocation justifies a pilot attempting to taxi an aircraft while a person is in its path. He stressed the importance of an even-handed approach to justice, noting that both parties had breached international aviation safety standards.
Keyamo’s directive to the NCAA includes notifying all airlines both domestic and international about the no-fly order. He warned that any airline that chooses to ignore the directive could face the revocation of its operating license.
