Immigration Denies Withholding Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Passport
The Nigerian Immigration authorities have dismissed speculation that Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s travel documents were withheld at the airport. Officials said the lawmaker only underwent the standard verification procedure before boarding her flight.
Public Affairs Officer, Mr. Akinsola Akinlabi, explained that officers occasionally retain passports briefly for data confirmation, describing the process as routine and not a case of confiscation.
He noted that the legislator filmed a short clip during the check but did not post an update after she was cleared to continue her trip.
The agency urged travellers to avoid spreading false information that could misrepresent regular airport operations, adding that its personnel act strictly within their mandate.
