IED Attack on Military Convoy Leaves Nine Soldiers Dead in Borno

At least nine Nigerian soldiers have been confirmed dead following an explosion caused by improvised explosive devices near Gubio in Borno State. The incident occurred as troops were travelling from Maiduguri, according to military sources.

The source revealed that the explosives were planted by Boko Haram insurgents and detonated while the soldiers were on their journey. Several others sustained injuries, with some fatalities recorded after the initial blast.

Investigations confirmed that the incident was not a gun attack but the result of explosive devices placed along the route. The affected troops were said to be from 145 Damasak under 5 Brigade, Maiduguri.

As of the time of reporting, the Nigerian Army had yet to issue an official statement. The attack adds to ongoing security challenges in the North-East, where insurgents continue to target military movements.
