Ibom Air Bans Passenger for Assaulting Crew Members
Nigerian airline Ibom Air has imposed a travel ban on a passenger, Comfort Emmanson, following a violent altercation with flight crew members on a Uyo–Lagos flight. The incident occurred at the Lagos airport on Sunday, where Emmanson physically attacked crew members after arrival, prompting intervention from airport security.
The airline revealed that trouble began when Emmanson refused to switch off her phone before take-off, despite repeated instructions. A fellow passenger eventually switched it off, triggering a verbal outburst from her. The situation was contained, and the flight proceeded without delay.
However, upon landing in Lagos, Emmanson waited until all other passengers had disembarked before launching a physical attack on the crew. She allegedly stepped on a flight attendant, tore off her wig and glasses, slapped multiple crew members, and attempted to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon. She also assaulted Ibom Air and FAAN security staff during the chaos.
The airline confirmed she was forcibly removed from the aircraft and taken into custody. Ibom Air has filed a report with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and stated that Emmanson is permanently barred from flying with the airline. This incident follows closely on the heels of the six-month flight ban issued to musician K1 De Ultimate over a separate case of unruly behavior.
