Husband of Late Shimite Rejects Death Allegations, Vows Legal Action

David Favour, the husband of the late Shimite Winifred Love, who served as a special adviser to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, has rejected accusations linking him to her untimely death. Speaking to the press in Abuja on Saturday, Favour emphasized the strength of their bond, stating that their marriage, which lasted over 20 years, was both legal and witnessed by Shimite’s younger brother. He referred to her as his “best friend,”.

Favour also addressed the tensions within his wife’s family, claiming that her stepbrother had attempted to influence her marital decisions, which led to internal conflicts. He revealed that Shimite had been struggling with significant emotional and psychological pressures due to her work and had planned to seek medical advice after completing her final project. Tragically, she passed away before she could take that step.

Favour presented an autopsy report, revealing that Shimite’s cause of death was acute left ventricular failure and hypertensive heart disease, with aspiration pneumonitis playing a contributing role. The toxicology results showed abnormal levels of C-reactive protein and interleukin 18, markers associated with sepsis and kidney injury. He also criticized the police monitoring unit for releasing his wife’s body without his consent and demanded the return of her personal items, including her phone.

Speaking further, Favour vowed to take legal action against media outlets and bloggers who connected him to domestic violence. He insisted that the autopsy findings cleared him of any involvement, adding that his wife’s extended family and certain individuals in Delta State had wrongfully taken their daughter and buried Shimite without his approval, even using her ex-husband’s name on the burial records.
