Group Commends Olu of Warri’s Leadership, Impact on Community Welfare Amid Economic Challenges

The leadership and members of Itsekiri Youth For Good Governance (IYGG) have expressed deep gratitude to the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, for his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the well-being of the Itsekiri people and for extending his benevolent efforts to the wider Delta, Niger Delta, and Nigerian communities.

In a statement released on Sunday March 16, 2025, the group lauded the initiatives spearheaded by the Olu of Warri which have positively impacted the lives of the people in the region due to economic hardships.

IYGG acknowledged some of the most impactful initiatives provided by His Majesty, including the financial assistance program that has directly benefited thousands of Itsekiris, helping them cope with the economic challenges of the day.

According to the group, this act of compassion has brought relief to many, especially the indigent members of the community.

The IYGG also commended the Olu for his dedication to education through the Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR Quiz Competition. The event, which brought together 64 schools from Warri and surrounding areas, not only ignited a passion for learning among teenagers but also fostered unity and peace among students from diverse cultural backgrounds. With the competition offering significant financial rewards, including a ten-million-naira prize for the winner, the initiative has been a catalyst for promoting educational excellence.

Another noteworthy initiative is the Warri monarch’s commitment to supporting young students, with over 130 pupils from Warri and its surrounding regions receiving financial support for their WAEC examinations. The IYGG also celebrated the Olu of Warri’s bursary program, which has benefited over 1,500 Itsekiri students pursuing higher education across Nigeria.

The group further applauded the Warri monarch’s far-reaching humanitarian efforts, including his sponsorship of a free medical service program that has benefitted people from various ethnic groups, including Urhobos, Ijaws, Aniomas, Igalas, Isokos, Calabars, Benins, Hausas, Igbos, and more. The free medical services have significantly improved the health and well-being of many individuals who otherwise might not have access to essential care.

Additionally, the ongoing orphanage feeding program, designed to assist vulnerable children, was applauded as yet another demonstration of His Majesty’s deep care for those in need.

The IYGG stated that the efforts of the Olu of Warri have not gone unnoticed, with President Bola Tinubu publicly recognizing His Majesty as a true source of pride to the nation. The group assured the Olu of Warri that the Itsekiri people stand firmly behind him in his efforts to uplift the community and the broader Niger Delta region.

In their statement, the group also extended their gratitude to Prince Collins Oritsetimeyin Edema, the handler of the Itsekiri empowerment initiative and quiz competition. They expressed their hope for continued success in his efforts to advance the Kingdom of Warri.

Chairman of the group, Mone Oris, and Secretary of IYGG, Metsaghranrun S. Oki, expressed their profound appreciation to the Olu of Warri for his enduring legacy of service and commitment to the betterment of the Itsekiri people, the Niger Delta, and Nigeria as a whole.
