Former Aviation Minister Oduah Arraigned Over ₦2.469 Billion Fraud

Former Aviation Minister Stella Adaeze Oduah and Gloria Odita appeared in the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama on Wednesday, charged with alleged ₦2.469 billion fraud. Prosecutors claim that in January 2014, the two obtained the funds from the Federal Ministry of Aviation through Broad Waters Resources Nigeria Ltd and Global Offshore Marine Ltd, falsely claiming they were for technical supervision and security logistics services. Both pleaded not guilty to the five-count charge.

Oduah’s lawyer, Chief Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), said she voluntarily returned from the United States to answer the court summons and requested bail on self-recognition. Attorney-General Lateef Fagbemi informed the court that the government did not oppose bail.

Justice Hamza Muazu granted bail, instructing the defendants to deposit their passports and seek court approval before traveling. He scheduled the trial to begin on February 12–13, 2026.

Oduah has previously faced other corruption-related prosecutions, highlighting ongoing scrutiny of her tenure in public office.
