FG Moves to Fast-Track Udu Federal Medical Centre Project

The Federal Government has moved to fast-track the establishment of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Udu Kingdom, Delta State, giving assurances that the project will meet key delivery targets under the current administration.

Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, made this known in Abuja during a meeting with the Paramount Ruler of Udu Kingdom, HRM Engr. Michael Ogheneovo Orugbo, and his delegation. He confirmed that the initiative has been placed on the priority list, adding that medical supplies worth millions of naira have already been provided to support activities at the temporary site.

As part of efforts to ensure sustainability, the minister directed the hospital’s management to put together a detailed five-year development plan that will guide funding and phased expansion of the facility.

He also acknowledged the contribution of the Udu Kingdom in donating land for the project, noting that the ministry will oversee proper documentation of ownership and ensure that the centre’s digital health systems are fully integrated with national frameworks.
