Delta PDP Kicks Over Alleged Seizure of Party Secretariat
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has protested the alleged occupation of its secretariat by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing the state APC chairman, Chief Solomon Areyinka, of taking control of the facility without legal backing.
The party, through its State Publicity Secretary, Chief Kingsley Akpos Oturubo, said the property remains duly registered in the name of the PDP, insisting that ownership has not changed despite political defections. It maintained that all documentation tied to the building clearly affirms the party’s claim.
PDP further alleged that the structure has been taken over and rebranded in APC colours, even though the ruling party already operates another office in the state. The development, it said, raises concerns over the protection of opposition assets.
Insisting that party properties cannot be transferred through defection, the PDP rejected any claim by Areyinka to the facility and urged him to vacate the premises. The party also pointed fingers at the Delta State Government, alleging support for the move, and signalled its readiness to challenge the situation through legal channels.
